About

Update: I just got some new work published in Collateral Magazine! Check it out here.

After graduating with a degree in philosophy and religion, I went on to clean the bathrooms at a Linens N Things in Amherst, Massachusetts while my dad served in the second Iraq war.  Following a brief stint as a substitute teacher, I went into the video game industry due to my strategy game background, where I’ve been a designer for over 15 years.

At around the age of 35, my younger brother was involved in a motorcycle hit-and-run, and nearly died.  After months in the hospital, my brother survived (although for many weeks, that wasn’t a certainty), but the experience pushed me to examine my own life and my time here on earth.  Since college, I had written a lot of things in my journals – short stories about my dad going to war, my experiences living in Hawaii during high school, and reflections on my wavering faith in college while studying to become a theistic apologist. I was a design lead at the time of my brother’s accident, and decided I wanted to write a memoir before I died.  And so, shortly after my brother’s incident, I took a break from leadership so I could work on my book. Now that I’ve finished my memoir, I hope it can help others who have loved ones serving in the military.

I’ve honed my craft as a writer via training from the Pacific NW Writers Association, the Hugo House in Seattle, and Port Townsend writer’s conference. After decades of moving, I’ve made a home in Seattle. In my free time, I’m into basketball, BJJ, yoga, meditation, singing and theater. I can be found on twitter and Instagram.
